cork + kinsale.

i left Germany at midday on the 26th and after a short stop in the Netherlands, by that evening i was tucked up in bed at Aoife’s family home in cork, a three hour bus ride from Dublin. i stayed with them for four nights in which time we took a short trip to Kinsale (a seaside town that reminded me a lot of Akaroa in the south island), wandered round the streets of Cork on a blustery day, watched lots of movies (including the Hobbit), ate good food, had many many many cups of Barry’s tea etc etc. it was such a nice time to just chill out after the busy lead up to Christmas and i thought it was pretty great trying to decipher some thickly accented irish English at times haha. i was blown away by generosity in my time there which i will not soon forget. i was also quite struck by the similarities between Ireland & new Zealand, and quite stoked to find both a similar landscape and people with a similar humour… nothing beats telling a joke and it being understood the first time haha.
