aufwiedersehen deutschland.

i’m sitting in Frankfurt airport, watching the snowflakes float by the window as i wait for my flight’s boarding time to eventually be called. i’ve packed my things once more into a suitcase, said goodbye to my new home + my new friends (always such a horrendous thing to do), + i’m homebound. when i woke this morning i realised it’ll be at least 48 hours til i’m next lying down + that thought is still on my mind (though i’m hoping to sleep a bit on the plane…). in 35 hours i’ll arrive back in new zealand… crazy. nothing quite makes your last hours in Germany go by better though than taking a high speed train through german countryside, snaking along the Ruhr river, white in a powdery coat of snow. i didn’t realise til this moment how much i’m gonna miss this place! i’m snacking on a brezel + utilising my deutsch skills one last time before i jump on the plane + say danke und aufwiedersehen, bis nachste mal Deutschland! (+ on a quick side note, i highly recommend not spraying yourself with the test perfumes in dutyfree before taking an extraordinarily long flight. i’m feeling a little sick from all the perfumy fumes + i feel guilty about how much i’m gonna skunk the person sitting next to me… haha)

here’s what i’ve been doing to pass some of the time so far: miniaturizing some of the places i’ve seen in these last six months (PS does the trick until i can one day afford a real-life tilt shift lens…)
